Project Aims

To design an bespoke responsive website that allows users to book and customise an engaging physical experience.
Going from ideation to prototype, translating prototype to functional site in Webflow.

Introduction

Area 52 is a UFO themed hotel in the Nevada desert, with rooms & excursions on offer to excite even the most daring of travellers.

Starting this project it was key to find a strong link between an audience type and theme.

Domain research

Researching everything UFO led to the idea of offering sight seeing tours in the Nevada Desert, but as I research further I found this was already available.
Exploring what a experience really meant taught me that tours alone were not going to be enough.

The big plaN

Instead of just offering tours, it was planned to be a one stop shop for alien sighting hopefuls, a alien themed hotel that takes the user into an out of this world experience of comfort and luxuruy.

Market analysis

Looking into similar destination themed hotels started to shape the features I would need, below is a theme park hotel in belgium that become a key visual reference for the design.

Visual inspiration

Building visual research on all things extra-terrestrial was a key part of building the brand identity of Area 52. I explored everything from different types of aliens, UAP's, sites of a similar context and even hotels with space age themes or destination Air bnb stays.  

Structure planning

Starting to bring together features the hotel will have on offer, as well as the brands tone of voice, finalising everything to be designed.

Detailed wireframes are my first step to building layouts, The more detailed the easier my hi-fidelity design.

The outcome

A fully responsive Webflow site showcasing the exciting experience of the Area 52 hotel.
A complex Figma prototype with full functionality by utilising conditional logic.
An experience so enticing that the main takeaway from user testing was "I really want to stay there".
